We are surging ahead...!

With under 2 months to go to Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2010, plans are rolling on. We have already secured some exciting events and attractions.

Our focus remains green and we plan to drive this message to all visitors at the show. You will meet ECO who will encourage exhibitors and visitors to adopt a green living philosophy in all they do. ECO is on an ambitious drive to collect paper, bottles, plastic and anything that can be recycled. With the support of you and all the visitors to the show, we are sure we can make a difference to our environment. Child Welfare SA will be collecting recycling products to raise funds to help children in their many Child Welfare centres across the country.

Mara Louw Honoured with a Rose from Ludwig’s Roses at Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2010

From humble beginnings in Soweto an artist with a passion for music, rose above adversity to capture the hearts of people across the world. Mara Louw’s determination to succeed formed the basis of her relationship with the arts. From the age of 10 she displayed a spirit that reflects in her music, values and commitment to her country and fellow South Africans.

Mara has since reached the heights of musical fame having travelled the world performing in leading productions and for royalty. Her special charm has touched the hearts of millions as she continues to thrill audiences with her special talents. In 2009 Mara was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Child Welfare South Africa. Her strong ethical values inject the African Renaissance Spirit in all.

And now, one of South Africa’s most-loved musicians has been honoured with her own rose. Mara has always occupied a special place in the hearts of all at Ludwig’s Roses and after an inspirational life, it was fitting that Ludwig Taschner produce a rose that reflects Mara’s passion and love for our country’s children.

With the Spring sun casting a spotlight over hundreds of roses, Ludwig patiently showed Mara a selection of the most stunning varieties. Mara was equally patient in looking for that special rose until, with a typical ecstatic leap of joy that only Mara can pull off, she spotted a beautiful peach and apricot-coloured Hybrid Tea. Her expression said it all and the Mara Louw Rose was named, to the delight of the staff at Ludwig’s Roses who all got to enjoy a chat with Mara.
The Mara Louw Rose will be launched at Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2010 to be held at the Coca Cola dome from 26 to 28 March 2010. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Mara Louw Rose will go to Child Welfare South Africa.

For more information on the mara Louw Rose and how you can order your stock, contact Anja Taschner at anja@ludwigsroses.co.za.

Ready Steady Plant

Tanya Visser is back! And with even more excitement and fun for visitors and some stressful 20-minute periods for contestants, everyone cannot wait for Ready Steady Plant, just for the laughs and giggles, and of course, the screaming and cheering for their favourite contestant.

Once again, Tanya plans to drag as many celebrities into her world of landscape design and put their skills to the test. Watch as seasoned professionals crack under the strain of producing their best while others do anything possible to disrupt them.

Child Welfare South Africa

Gardenex & Green Living Fair is proud to offer Child Welfare South Africa a platform to launch its Going Green campaign. CWSA Green Champion, Tanya Visser and Mara Louw, CWSA Ambassador, are embarking on an ambitious programme to provide all children at the many CWSA welfare centres across the country a green and healthy environment. From planting new trees, shrubs and flowers to vegetables, using innovative vegetable tunnels, the children of South Africa can look forward to enjoying some healthy vegetables in their new green environments.

Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2010 will be showcasing these initiatives and will also be making a donation to CWSA in support of their drive to uplift the lifestyles of our children.

Cooking from the Garden

To show just how to cook from a garden, Tanya Visser will, together with a chef, pick fresh vegetables from the Child Welfare vegetable tunnels and conjure up some delicious, healthy dishes. Southern Sun’s award winning chefs will cook up some of their favourite dishes to tempt your taste buds.

Reuse, Recycle and Reinvent with ECO

We have made it clear that our focus will remain on greening our environment. Our newest team member, ECO, will be driving our Green Living initiative. Together with committed-to-green companies, our exhibitors and visitors, ECO will be encouraging everyone to REUSE, RECYCLE AND REINVENT!

ECO’s Tip
Please make sure you dispose of all your build-up waste responsibly. ECO challenges all exhibitors to adopt a green living philosophy. Come on, it is, after all, the only way our planet will survive! Let’s unite in our efforts to give the environment back to nature.
